Weekend Update - Corsages, Climbing, and a Tick

Happy Monday!  I'm linking up again with Tara at Running 'n Reading for the Weekend Update - I hope you join in, too!

As I mentioned last week, my boys were both invited to the Sadie Hawkins Winter Homecoming dance on Saturday night and I was overthinking the flowers.  As I tend to do.  But I shouldn't have, because I have a friend who does arrangements and of course she came through with gorgeous, perfect corsages!

So, so, so pretty.
Big Boy and his beautiful date figuring out the boutonniere.

Little Boy's date was so excited about her corsage!  I heard later that some of her friends were jealous of how pretty the flowers were (and how thoughtful her date was).

After staying up way, way, waaaaaaaaay too late on Saturday (because of course I wanted to hear all about the dance!), I got up way, way, way too early on Sunday to meet a friend for a long and dirty run.  I haven't been on the trails for such a long time and I've been missing the dirt like you can't believe.  My friend is running her first 50K on the same course where UltraIronHubs and I ran the Gold Rush 50K last May.  She gets to run the course in reverse, though, which I think would be very pleasant with the net downhill.  This was her first preview of the terrain and I hope it was something of a confidence-building run for her.

It wasn't a very clear day, but the views were still spectacular!

Almost mid-way.

There's an old movie set on this trail.  So cool!

That's a fair amount of climbing for an 18 mile run!

I'm not going to show you a picture of the tick, because it didn't bite me in an especially photo-friendly place.  And before you go there, I'll clarify that it was on the side of my hip, thankyouverymuch.  Still not a photo I want to splash on the internet because apparently I do have boundaries.  I know you're happy to hear that, since it's been unclear up to this point.  Here's a link to the last time I picked up a blood-sucking passenger.  Interestingly, on the exact same trail and almost the exact same spot!

How was your weekend??

One of my boys went to a winter homecoming last weekend. I suggested a corsage, but he nipped that in the bud (pun intended). He said those were for proms. What do I know - I'm just THE MOM? Yours turned out very pretty. That's a beautiful trail! Glad you found the tick right away!

Eeew ticks! I guess that's one good thing about being buried under 2 feet of snow with -10 degrees. Aw the dance pics are so sweet. So they still do corsages? I remember a florist telling me no mas. Hmmmm....

What a beautiful trail, Pahla! Ticks are horrible; glad you found it quickly and got rid of that pesky sucker. I love these pics of your sons and their dates; the flowers look fantastic! No wonder all of her friends were jealous... :) Thank you so much for linking up with the blog again this week; hope your Monday is off to a great start.

Aww pretty corsages. I think I may have some of mine from high school still!

I am way too excited about seeing pictures of your boys before the dance. OMG, they're like little men!

The dirt looked like my kind of fun and you can never have too much climbing!!!

I know, right?!? It's strange how fast that happened.

That's so cool! I hope their dates keep the flowers and have good memories from them, too.

I wonder if it's a regional thing. Or maybe just an old-fashioned mama thing. :) Probably half of the girls had flowers.

Our school only has four dances a year and they're all formal(ish), with the prom being the most formal. So corsages are sort of expected for all of them. Totally different from when I was in school, for sure!
