OMG, speedwork!!

I just looked it up (reason number millionty-five that I love having a blog – I can check back on old workouts and paces), and the last time I did speedwork was December 23, 2010.  Dude, seriously?  I love speedwork.  It’s arguably my favorite workout in the world, but I guess that says something about my long, slow injury recovery plan this year.

In any event, speedwork is back on the training plan, and YAY for that!

Tuesday Workout 002Is there any better feeling in the world than crossing off a great workout?

Reading that post from December made me feel pretty darn good about my run this morning.  No, I’m not quite as fast as I was eight months ago, but to be anywhere in the ballpark of that level of fitness (that old workout was just three weeks post-CIM, probably the fittest I’ve ever been) makes me really happy.  I’m super pleased with my all-around negative splits – meaning my rest periods got faster and my speed portions got faster:

Happy Tuesday!

Awesome run! My speedwork is never structured as nicely as that :)

As a new runner I really appreciate your posts. I sorta/kinda follow a plan. I am following Runner's World Half-marathon training that calls for tempo runs, but not "speed" work. I am wondering how to introduce that into what I am doing. I know the tempo runs (which are about 9:06 per mile) have helped me SO MUCH. May I ask...where do you get your plans?

Yeay for speedwork!

I love how I can look back on stuff, too. I find myself more and more trying to include details that I'll find useful/interesting in the future.

My running friend forces me to do speed work and yells at me when I'm not fast enough. Helpful but annoying. That will be my wednesday! 1200s....

Woohoo! Awesome job with the speed work. And don't feel bad... I'm too ashamed to look at the last time I actually went to a track and did speed work!

awesome run!!! i think i'm falling in love with speed work because i really like the rest intervals, haha. taking a little rest, rather if its stopping or walking or light jogging, really rejuvenates me and gets me going again :)

I'd say you're doing pretty damn well! Great that you are back on the speedwork wagon.

Woah, look at you go! I've never actually tried structured speedwork because I'm constantly injured. I'm definitely going to have to consult you in another 6 months or so on how to do it!

Great work, P!
You have been waiting for SUCH a long time for this..I am really happy for you to get back to it. I remember whne you first got injured- think I found your blog around the CIM training period.

Yay for FAST!! Also, I like the workouts function. It's awesome!

My left leg is totally acting up, so I'm doing NO speedwork right now :-(

I wanted to go back and read about CIM, but I can't find your blog archive. Can you toss me the link?

Nice speed work! I love a good speed workout too (even if it's not technically "speedy"). :)
